Why does this always happen to me!

How many time have heard or you have said this..."Why does this always happen to me!"
Here's my favorite..."You made me do this!"

Ah, the magic of making choices in life.  We all make choices in life and then once the choice has been make, depending on the result, we don't want to take accountability for our choice or actions.  If it turn out that our choice is great, we run around flapping our wings like a condor ready to take flight.

But that's what so cool about making choices.  You never really know what the out come will be.  It's like gambling...well sort of.  At least here, you can control your destiny.

The whole idea of choosing is really...ownership.  What I mean by ownership is the power to except the consequences of our choosing and to say to one's self that the choice that we made can only be blamed on one person...the individual that made the choice.

I would like to share a story with you that was told to me 20 years ago about the ownership of choosing.

You have been escorted into a room with no windows. The door closes behind you and you notice that there are two holes in the floor.  One, that is halfway full of fecal matter and the other whole is full.

Then you notice that there is a small plaque on the wall with a little blinking light.  So, you go over to the plaque and in little tiny letters it says..."When this light blinks, the walls will start to close!"

Just at this moment, they start and now you have to choose which one of the holes you need to jump in, before you get squashed by the closing walls.  So at the last second, you jump into the hole that is half full of fecal matter.  Yes it makes you sick, because when you got in, it came right up to your chin.  Now you are really up to your ears in it.

Now what do you do?  Are you the kind of person that would say...

Now look what I have done, why does this always happen to me?  Or, do you say...

Thank god I am alive and now where do we go from here?

We are going to chooses in life everyday, that's going to determine our future.  Now it's just a matter of how you own these choices and how you move forward with these choices.  One of the worst things you can do is not make the choice, just standing their waiting for someone else to make it for you.  When this happens you give your power away.

So as you can see, choosing comes with an inherent property of...risk!

In order to take that risk, that would mean that you will have to step out of your comfort zone.
